The OERB has restored an abandoned well site near a developing neighborhood in southwest Oklahoma City, making the property safe for nearby families.

Joel Bryant called the OERB to clean up an abandoned gas compressor site on his property near Highway 152 and SW 59th Street in the Mustang school district.

“I called the OERB for several reasons: the mess was directly adjacent to a neighborhood under construction, it affected the aesthetics of the community and the property had potential hazards for kids who might play in that area,” said Bryant.

This project is associated with a historical processing site and consisted of abandoned flowlines and large concrete slabs, which were all removed.

“We’re proud to restore a site in such close proximity to a new neighborhood with families and children,” said Steve Sowers, OERB Environmental Director. “Parents won’t have to worry about their kids playing on this site which was just beyond their backyards.”

Bryant says he is pleased with the restored site and would recommend other landowners call the OERB.

“This is my second time going through the OERB restoration process,” said Bryant. “The key factor is patience, as long as you have the time the process is simple, anyone can do it. They will restore your land as if nothing was ever there.”

The OERB’s well site restoration program is voluntarily funded by Oklahoma’s oil and natural gas producers and royalty owners. For more information, contact Liz Caldwell, Environmental Coordinator at lcaldwell@oerb.com or 1-800-664-1301 and visit oerb.com/well-site-clean-up.
